Artificial intelligence is described as the science of creating software that can work and think like a human in all regards, from problem solving to planning to language. In order to define artificial intelligence, you have to take into consideration four main categories of artificial intelligent systems: namely software, hardware, cognitive architectures and neuromorphic computing. These four classifications give us many different ways to look at artificial intelligent software and hardware that can be used to build intelligent robotic androids and even computer systems that can beat a grand champion chess player. While all these classifications are indeed important for the field of artificial intelligence, perhaps the most interesting category is the limited memory category.
How does the brain of a human work compared to an artificial intelligence system? Well, the human brain operates on much more than mere information processing and patterning. In fact it is said that humans use seven different types of memory in every day! Now then, the question becomes, can artificial systems work in this manner or is it just science fiction. The answer is no, the answer is yes, and this is because of the understanding of the mind that goes along with artificial intelligence.
Now you might think, how can this be possible. I mean the minds of robots are completely different from ours. They have no emotions, they do not suffer, do not dream, do not feel anything. Thus, it makes no sense at all to try and program artificial intelligence, because it would be completely artificial and we would never be able to distinguish the artificial from the real thing. Thus it is safe to say that artificial intelligence cannot affect the way we think, feel, or do things.
However, let us take a closer look at the different types of minds that are available. Consider the different kinds of languages that people speak. Each different language has its own rules and the rules of grammar change depending on which type of language that you are using. This too shows that we cannot simply program an artificial mind to think the same way as a human would, and thus no such artificial intelligence is possible.
Similarly, one of the main different types of intelligent systems that researchers are trying to create is the brain in a box. This is a device which is similar to a computer, only it is completely wireless so that the user can manipulate it without the physical presence of the user. The brain in a box has been programmed to think and learn like a human brain would. This is a very interesting technology, and many are saying that it will be the next great thing. Still, this technology needs to be proven to work and prove that it works for everyone who uses it. Some say that it may be possible within the next ten years.
In another category of Artificial Intelligence, we have Meta AI. It takes the science of Artificial Intelligence and applies it to a different area. The Meta-AI system allows a user to control an entire computer based on their input, but they still retain complete control over the hardware itself. This allows them to build a computer that is smarter than it’s owner. Many experts believe that such a system could be developed within the next decade.
The last main type of artificial intelligence is called deep learning. It uses an artificial intelligence platform to load up a data base of knowledge and then let the system run recurrent programs in which it trains itself. For instance, if a new technology is invented and every person learns how to use it, this new technology becomes an artificial intelligence system. Such a system is called an artificial intelligence neural network, or a neural network. When we talk about the future of artificially intelligent software, we are talking about this type of system.
As you can see, there are a lot of different types of artificial intelligence, each with its own purpose. It is exciting to think about what artificial intelligent computers will be capable of in the future. They will have minds, like ours, but they will also be able to communicate in many ways, and build things as well as humans can. This all comes down to the goal of building the perfect human.
